Fresh Ground Salt & Pepper & Hassleback Potato #recipe #ozeri
There’s scarcely anything better on a recipe than freshly ground salt and pepper. That’s especially true with my Hasselback potato recipe. The fresh ground taste is incredible in my opinion, especially when it comes to pepper. However, I have arthritis in my hands so grinding pepper is not fun. Or rather it wasn’t with my manual hand crunk grinder. That’s why when I realized Ozeri has an electric salt and pepper grinder, I wanted to see how easy it would be to use with my aching hands. I’m sure anyone with arthritis can relate.
After receiving my new Artesio Electric Salt and Pepper Grinder, I can say that I’m ecstatic with the reults. All I have to do is barely touch the button and I get fresh ground salt and pepper in an instant. I don’t think it could get any easier than that.
The salt & pepper grinder set is really elegant to look at. I like a clean, sleek, look and this qualifies in that category. It’s super easy to use once I figured out how to add the batteries (I should have read the directions from the get go). Adding the salt and pepper wasn’t messy like some grinders can be. Boy, can I make a mess trying to get the salt and pepper in the tiny little space. Again, not a problem with this set. It’s also very easy to adjust the grain following the instructions. I’m impressed with both of these electric grinders and just the smell of fresh ground herbs of any kind seems to perk me up at meal time.
For both of the electric grinders it took 8 AA batteries (4 each) and I don’t anticipate that I’ll have to change them very often. After adding the batteries, I removed the battery case to add my salt and pepper. I replaced the battery case and top and that’s all it took to make these usable. Cleaning is really easy as well. I just wash off with a warm soapy cloth and rinse well. I have not submerged my grinder set in water and I won’t. It’s recommended to just wash off.
After receiving my electric grinder set, I decided to try the salt and pepper grinder set with my Hasselback potato recipe and honestly, it was divine. I was home alone so it was too large to finish but the freshly ground salt and pepper made it all the more delicious. I love Hasselback potatoes. The kids love them as snacks and they’re just so easy to make which makes my job in the kitchen easier. I’m going to share my recipe with you and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Preheat oven to 350.
This recipe makes 1 Hasselback Potato; double it for two or more.
Large Idaho Potato
1/2 cup Movie Theater Butter
1 Tablespoon parsley or chives
2 Tablespoons Minerva Dairy Garlic Herb Amish Roll Butter (melted)
Fresh Ground Salt & Pepper
Wash your potato or potatoes really well and slice it or them without going through potato at the bottom. You want the potato to remain whole. Some people use wooden spoons on either side of the potato when cutting so they won’t go all the way through. The handles stop the knife from slipping through. I skip this step and use a sharp Ozeri Ceramic Knife and it takes less than a minute to slice a large potato.
Combine Movie Theater Butter, Minerva Dairy Garlic Herb Amish Roll Butter and parsley or chives. I love chives but the kids don’t so I use parsley most of the time. Unless I’m home alone. Then I’m all about the chives. Speaking of which, I’m going to try my hand at growing some this year. We’ll see how that goes but let’s carry on…
I buy my Movie Theater Butter at Walmart in the popcorn section. I go through a lot of it from Hasselback Potatoes to air popped popcorn to my zesty Ranch pretzels.
Rub potato with butter mixture really well, trying to get in between each slice. Top off with salt and pepper. Bake until done. This will vary according to how big the potato or potatoes are. Stick a fork in the middle of the potato to check. For a large potato, I bake it for almost 2 hours. Smaller potatoes about an hour and a half.
I felt really wasteful because I couldn’t finish this much of my potato but I tried to devour the entire thing. I get an A for effort :).
