This is my favorite time of year. We’ve been enjoying warm weather in the ’70s and sometimes 80’s and for me, that means one thing… travel. I took off last weekend on a road trip to check out a couple of places in Georgia I’ve been wanting to revisit. Our first stop was High Falls, State Park. There are many reasons why I recommend a weekend at this park. I love hiking here because it’s so scenic and beautiful. I’m looking forward to Paws on the Falls which will take place next weekend and again on April 29th.  Another event we’re planning to attend at High Falls is the 4th Annual Glow-N-Dark Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, Apr 15th.

We enjoyed a picnic by the water and Abby wanted to have what she calls a “real picnic” which is to sit on the ground versus using the handy picnic tables scattered all around the park. I obliged her of course.

Then we went on a hunt for the geese that are usually by the water. We took a couple of loaves of bread to feed them but we didn’t find them. Might be too early yet. There are usually tons. I’m sure they’ll be back in the summer if not before. Below are a couple of photos I snapped during a previous visit, of our High Falls State Park feathered friends.

We saw a couple of ducks but they weren’t interested in our measly loaves of bread.

After Abby got in some play time, we checked out every inch of the park.

There are two areas for campers; ” a spacious campground or lakeside yurts, which are like canvas and wood tents.” I highly recommend staying in the yurks. Click on the link to get an example of what yurks look like inside. They’re my choice for glamping on a budget.

Of course, we hiked along the trails to see the falls from every angle.

There’s also a nature trail which is a lot of fun to hike on. You’ll want to plan at least a two-day trip to go on both.

The pool is not ready for swimming but it shouldn’t be too much longer before it opens.
