Makeup for Mature Skin
What works for me may not work for you but I’d love to share the makeup and cosmetics products that I am currently using. I’m also including a video at the bottom of this post on how to apply makeup for mature skin. I have mature skin. Believe it or not, it wasn’t that long ago that I realized I wasn’t applying my makeup to the best of my ability because I didn’t know how to apply it to my mature skin. Applying makeup during this stage in my life is not as easy as it was when my skin was young and elastic. It takes more focus on certain areas to achieve the affect I want. I’ve since decided to throw out all of my makeup and go back to the basics of finding what works well for me now. The video I mentioned has helped me immensely.
I am torn between two foundations that I absolutely love for different reasons. One is Loreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream and the other is a newer foundation that I have been using; COVERGIRL + Olay Facelift Effect. I wanted to try the COVERGIRL because of the Olay in it and I was really surprised by the effect and the fact that it’s not heavy like a lot of foundations are. The reason I use the BB Cream is because of how lightweight it feels but it doesn’t perform the same kind of magic that COVERGIRL seems to. For this reason, if I had to choose between the two, I’d probably go with the COVERGIRL + Olay Facelift Effect foundation.
I try to avoid glittery eyeshadow and lean towards matte whenever possible but I do throw caution to the wind every once in awhile and go for the sparkly look. I have yet to find that perfect eyeshadow but it’s not for lack of trying. Every time I go shopping I pick up a new type of eyeshadow. The closest I’ve come to finding the perfect brand of shadow and colors would be COVERGIRL eye enhancers; blushing nudes 284 and urban basics 220. I love their eyeshadow color palettes. I can’t find these colors at any of our local stores but I can purchase them online directly from covergirl.com. Mark eyeshadow comes in a close second.
Blush is easy because I don’t wear it every day and tend to only wear it when I’m going somewhere. Again, I grab COVERGIRL over other brands. I’m not a COVERGIRL spokes person, I’ve just like how some of their products work on my mature skin. I never thought I would be saying that…. my mature skin. It takes some getting use to.
I haven’t found my true companion mascara of choice yet so I’ll continue to search for it. For now I keep going back to Measurable Difference. On one side is a primer and on the other is mascara. My lashes are thin and I like how the primer holds my mascara in place for longer wearing. I don’t get the really full look with the mascara that I want to achieve. Usually I end up using another mascara brand with this one. I have a dozen types and I just grab what ever is handy to apply over the Measurable Difference.
I’ve recently started wearing eyebrow powder and after trying Paula Dorf’s 2 + 1 for Brows, I don’t need to look any further. I would consider trying other products but I’m pleased with the look and feel of this trio.
I’ve tried many different types of lipstick and again I have to say that I usually grab COVERGIRL, more specifically 420 iced mauve. It’s the perfect color for fall and winter and I can even make it work during spring and summer. I miss COVERGIRL satin gold coral lipstick. I used to wear it during my younger years but I’m assuming it’s one of their discontinued items because I’ve not been able to find it for many years now.
Be watching for my anti-aging beauty routine product list, coming soon.
