There has scarcely been a more engaging toy in my home than the #1 Best Seller Stem Electric Motors Catalyst from tinkeringlabs.com. And if I’m completely honest, I’d have to say that I have enjoyed it just as much as the kids have. In each kit, they provide step-by-step instructions to build specific projects such as this drawing bot we created. Hands-on play helps the kids learn eye and hand coordination while strengthening their motor skills. This set includes real parts with real hardware and tools. FYI batteries included.

The first bot we created draws curvy lines. It was easy to create using the step by step instructions which also included everything you’d need to make it with. Occasionally you’ll need other products such as with today’s bot (a whisk). We’re going to make a machine that can scramble an egg. In fact, the kids have picked out something fun to make every day this week. It will give them something to look forward to when they get home from school. And of course, anything that provides hours of entertainment with hands-on use, it’s a-ok in my book. Take a peek at it in action and I do apologize for the poor quality as I try to learn how to master my new camera.
This inventing set is recommended for kids 8+, teens, and adults. What I love about this set is that with the parts included the kids can build doodling robots, power electric model cars, add motors to legos, and more! Plus there are expansion packs for sale as well as spare parts sets for even more fun. I’m planning to purchase an extra battery pack so we can make 2 bots at once that way Morgan and Jacob can get creative at the same time.
I’ve taken a few photos to show some of what is in each set and to give you an idea of how the bot looks as we created it.
