The kids will be out of school before I know it for summer vacation (time really does fly) and I’ve been on a hunt for the healthiest snacks I can find for them. I don’t know if everyone’s kids do this but they finish one meal and want to know what I’m fixing for the next one. I believe in snacks or I’d have to cook 6 meals a day. Seriously. However, I prefer healthy snacks most of the time. That’s not to say that I won’t sneak in a trip to the ice cream shop now and then.
One product that I discovered has ultimately turned out to be the kid’s favorite snack choice; Crunchies. And guess what? It’s made with fruit and vegetables. And only the pure stuff. Now if you don’t already know this from previous posts, Abby has ADHD. It was recommended that we feed her a healthy diet as it’s supposed to help her symptoms. I will take all of the help I can get in that area. Just keeping up with the little stinker is hard enough.
So finding something she likes was a bit of a challenge. She’s a picky little eater. I set out the Crunchies and just left it in a bowl on the coffee table. I wanted to see what she would do. I didn’t tell her the important things like it’s healthy and good for her. I didn’t say a word. Before long while watching some TV her curiosity got the best of her. She started snacking on it. She’s already devoured all of the mango fruit and is working on the others.
Even better, all of the kids like Crunchies. That means I don’t have to buy different snacks to suit different kids. It just doesn’t get any better than that. I did try to sneak in some beets on them but they weren’t crazy about them and I felt like I was pushing my luck. I’ll just stick with the fruit selections and thank my lucky stars that I found something they enjoy that I can feel good about buying them. The downside is that they are a little bit pricey (I watch for sales) but they get pure fruit in every crunch so that makes it worth it in my opinion.
