Dinner and a Movie

November 11, 2014 By: Terri21 Comments

I’m not a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Sunday kind of person. Saturdays work well in my favor. I do want to put a stronger emphasis on Mondays. They suck. After I make it through Monday, I can generally make it through the rest of the week. Yesterday was Monday, today is Tuesday aka Twosday. Two for Twosday = Dinner and a Movie. It’s my reward for not shooting anyone on Monday.

I take Twosday very seriously. It’s my night to relax how I see fit. Sometimes I go out to eat before the movie starts and sometimes like today (I have much to do at home today as I’ll be away most of tomorrow), I stay in and cook one of my favorite meals and watch a movie on TV or on my Kindle Fire HDX. I have Amazon Prime and it has saved me so much money on movies and books, not to mention free shipping, that I plan to keep Prime even though it has gone up by $20 this year. I watch videos on my Kindle on a nightly basis and I’ve been known to watch it until the early morning hours. It’s the reason I became obsessed with Downton Abbey and other miniseries.

After careful consideration, I wasn’t kidding about taking MY day seriously, I’ve decided to make pizza and watch The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. While others might feel cooking is a task, to me it’s something I embrace with joy. I love to cook, it relaxes me and I love to eat. I’ve always been able to eat what I want without gaining weight until 2 years ago. I’ve had 5 extra pounds sitting on my hips for that long and I’ve resigned myself to accepting them as I refuse to give up good food.

Pizza dough should not be intimidating. You start with the dough and create anything you want. I originally found my dough recipe on the Food Network and every time I make pizza, I add different ingredients. Sometimes I’m in the mood for veggie pizza and sometimes I want all the pepperoni it can hold. I’ve included a screenshot of the dough recipe and challenge you to create your own pizza at home.

I also love cooking and watching a movie. The latest movie we watched is Gone Girl with burgers as our movie food.

I love Amazon Prime. I usually get the items I order the next day, 2 days at the most. They ship quick with prime. I like buying and borrowing ebooks, and of course I’m a movie fanatic so I watch several of their free prime movies or TV shows daily.

I’m glad you made the comment about keeping Amazon Prime. I’m on a 30 day free trial right know and was wondering if I should continue. Sounds like you like it.

My ideal date night is ordering bonefish to go, the kids are away and my husband and I get to sit and relax. Nothing to do but enjoy each other’s company and talk without interruption.

Dinner and a movie at home sound like the perfect date night. We try to have date nights and go out once a month and try a new place but there’s something nice about a quiet night at home.

I love pizza and will have to try this recipe. I love to sit home and watch movies on Netflix. It can be addicting though. Thanks for sharing. I love all the Hunger Games movies and have seen them all.

I’ve never tried making pizza dough before, but your recipe makes it looks easy. I might have to try it one of these days.

Oh yes, first of all love your rolling pin! Second of all I’m the cook in the family, and my daughter is the baker, but she doesn’t give herself enough credit she cooks quite well too. I love to experiment though and being as my last name is Moody my husband says what’s for supper and I say, “MOODY SURPRISE”, which is mostly every night. ~snicker-snicker~ Pizza is great to experiment with… I tried a no meat pizza one night and tried tuna on it and all the veggies I could try in the frig… DON’T DO IT… YUCKY! Stick to the veggie pizza which is scrumptious especially with sliced tomatoes. mmmm

Surviving Monday is also crucial for me especially now after a really long vacation. Pizza would be perfect for movie nights. I’d love to play around with ingredients when it comes to Pizza.

This sounds like my kind of evening! Dinner and a movie. I too love Amazon Prime and am disappointed in the price jump. Oh well, still worth it I think.

Lol I’m the same! I have an extra 5 lbs that just won’t go away, but I refuse to go on a diet! I just can’t give up good food either. I love the whole twosday idea! I might start doing that with my hubs 🙂

I love the Twosday idea LOL. We do a lot of dinner and movie nights at home, but we are a Netflix family. Luckily they always have something for us to watch.

I’m the same as you, where I’ve got five extra pounds sitting around- but like you, those five pounds allow me to eat and drink what I want, so I’m happy to have them. Sounds like TWOsday works great for you as a relaxing unwind!
