Recipe, Make Ahead Strawberry Shortcake. It's strawberry pickin time. This refreshing recipe is the only one you'll ever need.

No matter how I make mine, Strawberry Shortcake is always a favorite around here. I recently found myself in need of an easy but delicious dessert to take to an event and I headed straight to Dollar General. From their Rubbermaid take-along containers to their fresh produce, they have it all. I live a mile from our Dollar General Market so I probably go at least 5 times a week to buy groceries and see what sales they have going on. And they always have great sales going on.

But back to my dessert. I needed to make it the day before because I knew I wouldn’t have time the day of, so I kept that in mind when I went shopping. I’m always budget shopping so I took that into consideration as well. It wasn’t long before I decided to make a Strawberry Shortcake. I’ve made several this spring and have had nothing but praise for them so I knew it was going to be a hit. My Make-Ahead Strawberry Shortcake is super easy to make, I can store it in the fridge for several (or more) days, and I don’t have to bake a thing or go anywhere else to find all of my ingredients.

What you’ll need
Rubbermaid Take Along container. I bought a 2 pack so I’d have an extra take-along container for something else I plan to take.
1 premade Angel Food Cake (located near checkout counters)
4 packs of Strawberry Glaze (where fruit are sold)
2 bowls of Cool Whip
2 packs of Organic Strawberries washed and sliced

After washing and drying my Rubbermaid Take-along containers, I added 1 bowl of a cool whip layer to one of them. I then layered 2 bags of strawberry glaze. On top of that, 1/2 of the strawberries. Then the cake sliced and diced. The whole thing.

Then I started all over (except for the cake which is staying nice and fresh between my layers).

Another bowl of Cool Whip.

2 more bags of Strawberry Glaze.

Then add the remaining strawberries to top it off.

Cover, keep in the fridge until ready to serve. I can’t think of an easier or better dessert to make when you need something that looks like you spent hours on it (but you won’t).

When it comes to kids’ parties, I have a little more fun with my Make Ahead Strawberry Shortcake and serve them in individual jars.
