I don’t know how many of you have vowed to make getting organized part of your New Years Resolution, but I sure did. I moved in December and gosh darn if the school didn’t let the kids out during that time (ha). So organizing was the least of my priorities. After packing in November, and moving in December, you’d think I’d be organized by now, but I’m not. Not as much as I’d like to be that is. So, that’s how come getting organized is pretty high on my list of resolutions, or goals for 2017. I’ve put my best foot forward and am already taking steps to make my life run smoother and I hope my tips help you organize your life as well.
For the first time in my life, I’m writing things down in one place instead of using tons of sticky notes that I had laying around everywhere. Had is the keyword here. I’m using an At-a-Glance Vienna Weekly/Monthly Appointment Book that I got towards the end of last year and I highly recommend it. You can click on my link to buy one at Shoplet.
I’m starting back on a skin care routine that takes mere minutes to do. I’m using Alpha Skin Care products because they are effective, within my budget and they absorb quickly and effortlessly so I don’t have to wait forever to apply my foundation after using them. I’ve gone from a million skin care products to just 5. Go me. I can see my bathroom sink again.
I am keeping my kitchen cupboards organized daily which really is saving time when I’m in a hurry to cook. I can find everything where it’s supposed to be and it’s really made my life in the kitchen so much happier. Amazon has some of the best cabinet and drawer organizers of every kind imaginable. My next purchase is going to be a Neat-O Over the Cabinet Cutting Board Bakeware Storage Organizer Holder.
I’ve started labeling everything with Name Bubbles Stickers. From the kid’s clothes to toys, to my dishes when I take them to outings, everything is getting a label. Although I don’t have a nursery, I know that a lot of you do so I encourage you to go check out all of the name and clothing labels available to organize your baby’s space. They have styles to suit everyone.
I’ve thrown away half of everything I own. Say what? I did. Anything I haven’t used in a year went to the curb. As fast as I put it out there, it was taken so there really is truth to “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Decluttering is necessary for all of our lives. When I organize, I make a home for something I’m going to keep. When I declutter, I’m providing a permanent solution to my problem which in my case is lack of space.
I’m going green with my mail. I’ve been opting out of snail mail and I’m receiving everything via email. Paperless is a better choice for me because mail tends to pile up otherwise. My table then becomes a catch-all to mail and I’ve decided to put an end to that this year. Check out this great article on how to go completely paperless this year.
I am using Windex for most of my cleaning surfaces. I was buying numerous cleaning products until I started trying Windex on more and more surfaces. I get the clean I want along with the shine I love. I’ve been researching even more ways to use Windex and I came across a helpful post on 21 Unusual Uses for Windex. Not only has cleaning with 1 product cut down on time, it’s saving me room in my cupboard that I can use for something else.
That’s it for now but be sure to sign up for my newsletter for more organizing tips in the future. Cheers to a more organized you and me. If you have any tips that work for you that I’ve not mentioned, please share them in a comment.
