Pet Friendly Home

Living with pets can help turn your house into a warm, welcoming home. When you share living space with animals though, there are some important considerations to follow to create a safe, healthy indoor environment for you and your furry friends. It only takes a few minutes to make sure that home is safe for your pets.

For example, did you know that some house plants and outdoor landscaping materials can hurt your pets? Take an inventory of your plants and mulch to make sure they’re pet safe.  Be careful with common household items like string, yarn, and aerosols. All are harmful to different types of animals. Surprisingly, a common type of small animal cage bedding is harmful to hamsters.

You’ll need to protect your treasured belongings from your pets too. Store any expensive or precious family heirlooms out of reach from curious animals. Make sure your clean clothes are kept away from cats and dogs to keep them free of pet hair.

Indoor pets can also aggravate allergies. Pet allergy symptoms include skin rashes, itchy eyes, and a runny or stuffy nose. If you’re already battling summer allergies, take steps to lessen the effects of allergens like pet dander inside your house. You should vacuüm often, change air filters, and get your home’s HVAC ducts cleaned regularly. You and your furry friends can live happy, healthy lives together. Just take a few extra steps to ensure that everyone is comfortable in your shared living space. Check out the following four steps to a pet-friendly home.
