Due to health issues, I found myself in unfamiliar territory. I went from being a very active hiker, traveler and health fitness addict to spending 4 painful years bed bound. Several more after that learning to walk while dealing with unbearable pain. My spine was injured which resulted in it collapsing and unfortunately surgery failed. My life changed dramatically and completely in a single day. The things I loved doing prior, I could no longer do. At least not in the same ways. I had spent my nursing career taking care of others and it was a hard pill to swallow to be taken care of. Fast forward it and I’m happy to say I’ve learned to love and enjoy new things that I otherwise wouldn’t have taken the time to learn and I’m more active than the doctors thought I could be.

And, as you’ll soon learn, I owe a big thanks to Depend that I don’t have go backwards in my progress. I’m going to keep on keeping on.

Why Depend? Well, just when I was getting some of my life back, mother nature cast another evil spell on me. Bladder leakage. As if living in chronic pain wasn’t enough, I had to learn to deal with bladder leakage and how I could live my life without letting it slow me down any further than fate already had. A friend of mine was experiencing the same problems I was and we began to experiment with bladder leakage control products like Depend Silhouette Active Fit Briefs. Keep in mind that I’m not old, at least I don’t feel old. I never expected to have issues at my age with my bladder that I associated with nursing home patients. I’ve since learned that many other women my age experience the same problem that I do. In fact, statistics show that more women under the age of 50 experience bladder leakage than women under 60. And more women under 20 experience bladder leakage than women under 80. And to top that off, over 51 million women are dealing with bladder leakage just like I am.

Bladder leakage is not the end of the world. It might have felt like it was when I first started experiencing it, but with Depend Silhouette Active Fit Briefs, I’m going to continue to live each and ever moment like it’s my last. The briefs are comfortable and feel more like undies than they do a pad. The reason my BFF and I both decided we liked Depend Silhouette Active Fit Briefs over the other leading brands is because of the thin style. When we are out and about, we don’t want to look or feel like we’re wearing a diaper type product. Depend low rise comes in a beige and black and no one has ever been able to tell that I have one on. Least of all me.  Modern product for modern women like us.

Several years ago I learned about the Underwareness social movement and charitable cause that was started by Depend. They continue to promote Underawareness and I continue to promote Depend. What I wanted to stress in this post is the good that Depend is doing to help women like me. For each product sold in 2016, Depend will donate $1, up to $3 million, to charities that advance the research, education and awareness of bladder leakage. If you experience bladder leakage, get your camera’s out so you can help as well. Your shares on social media using the hashtag #Underawareness will help raise the money for the donations. Snap away and if you want to leave your link to your share in my comments, I’ll re share your photos and videos for you.
