Surviving Winter Aches With Salonpas

Aches and pains are not fun any time of the year but especially during winter and wet weather. To bring you up to date, I had failed back surgery many years ago. I had to have an emergency hysterectomy and my spine collapsed. I’m sure that’s not the correct term for what happened but I want to note that the injury wasn’t caused due to anything my physician did wrong during the surgery, my bones were weak and brittle and we didn’t know it. Because of the position, I was put in to have the surgery, it caused my lower back injury. Since I’m not sure of the correct term is of what happened, we’ll call it an injury. Just one of those mysteries that happened as things can.

Afer searching a couple of years for a physician to perform back surgery (It took a dozen before one agreed) I had my surgery. I knew that there was a chance the surgery wouldn’t correct the problem and relieve my pain but by this time I’d been in the bed for two years while trying to find someone to do the surgery. I didn’t think I had anything to lose. What I didn’t take into account was that if the surgery failed, my pain could increase. It did. I now live with chronic pain on a daily basis. There is never a time when I’m not in pain. Not for a second, not for a minute, not for an hour. I have pain 24/7.

I decided to research some ways that I could make it through the winter months without having to get as many shots as I usually have to. Toradol is my shot of choice. My doctor’s office is 2 1/2 hours away and after traveling to and from and waiting to see the doctor, my pain is usually 10 times worse by the time I have my shot. That’s not the way anyone should have to spend their time when it’s miserably cold out to start with. I’ve been looking for a way to manage my pain from home so I wouldn’t have to go through that every other week. That’s where Salonpas came in-to play. I was ready and willing to give their products a try.

I received a nice big package of Salonpas products to review at the same time I was moving. I don’t even know what to say to the company because thanks just doesn’t seem to be enough, but it’s a good start, so, thank you. Your products have changed my life and I’m living life out of the bed during the worst season imaginable for me to live through. I can go ahead and tell you that I don’t believe I could have packed, moved, unpacked, cleaned, fed, taken care of the kids, and everything else I had to do these past two months, if it weren’t for these products. The products have been helping me so well that when my mom was down with her back, I passed on a couple of products to her. She was up and moving in no time and together, we’re spreading the love about Salonpas.

The best thing about Salonpas products is that they work of course. Do they take my pain away completely? No. Do they bring it down? Absolutely. If you have pain, you might already know that a pain scale is based on a 0 to 10 intensity. 0 being no pain, 10 being the worst pain imaginable. My pain level stays between 8 and 9 daily. It’s taken many years to learn to live with the pain and it’s been a process I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It’s an ongoing battle that will follow me throughout the rest of my life. All of the Salanpas products I’ve tried bring my pain down to a 6 to 7 level when I use them twice a day. For me, that’s pretty much how well the shots work for me. For a few days after I have a shot, my pain level is around a 6 – 7.

I take acute and chronic pain seriously. When recommending anything for pain, it has to work on me enough that I’d recommend it and Salanpas does. I’ve tried everything under the sun for pain and this brand is a brand I’ll continue to use. I haven’t had to go to my physician’s office for a shot since using the products. I use the patches or gel daily. If patches aren’t your thing, don’t worry, there’s a product for anyone’s preference. I prefer the Salonpas® LIDOCAINE Pain Relieving Gel-Patch and all of the other patches as well as the gel but my mom likes the patches, spray and the gel. If you’re unsure about which type would best benefit you, buy some of each. I don’t know about you but pain relief for me is worth any amount of money.

Salanpas is available at many pharmacies and at Walmart so it’s convenient to purchase when you’re out and about shopping. I’d really love it if you try the patches if you’d let me know how they work for you and which product works best on you.

I always keep a box of Salonpas in my medicine cabinet. They work amazingly well when I get a back neck ache from over doing it with my workouts.

This is also a great reminder to have salonpas in my kit! It’s really hard to deal with body aches on winter time.

The pain you experience is horrible. I’m glad that this product came along when it did. Sounds like you may live in a rural area as it takes 2+ hours to get to your doctor. I’m happy you have temporary relief in between appointments.

I”m glad that these help reduce your pain even a little bit. While I can’t relate personally, my husband is in chronic pain all the time with degenerative disc disease. He’s due to have spinal surgery next month. I’m so sorry your surgery didn’t take your pain away, I don’t know how you get by like you do. Is there any possibility of anything else down the road that could take this pain away permanently?

Thank you and I feel for your husband as well as yourself because it’s not easy for anyone when a family members suffers from chronic pain. As far as surgery goes, I won’t be able to have another one. There hasn’t been one single successful surgery in the area of my deepest pain. According to every physician I have seen, they said it would only make my pain worse to attempt it. I now see a pain clinic because there’s nothing else that can be done. I wish your husband success with his. Please let me know how it goes. Is he going to have a bone graft as well?

I’m so sorry you are dealing with such horrible chronic pain. I am currently dealing with it myself due to injuries to discs and vertebrae in my neck and spine and nerve damage from those injuries. I had totally forgot about Salonpas, and after reading this, I am headed to the store to pick some up to see if it will help me get through the time between injections. Thank you!
