Illusions, like these iphone wallpaper options, can be powerful tools which trick the eye and the mind if you do not pay close attention to their sleight of hand.

Have you ever been confronted with something which ended up being completely different than what you originally anticipated? Have you jumped into the deep end of a pool fully expecting the water to be warm and inviting only to find it frigid and nearly freezing? Or have you ever casually traversed a flight of stairs planning to land on one final step just to discover you have already reached the desired floor as your foot slams against to the ground and you stammer to maintain your balance? Surely you have witnessed, or personally experienced, the moment when someone goes to sit in a chair only to find their rear on the ground because their depth perception deceived them as they leveled themselves into the seat. These types of surprise revolutions can cause a physical and sometimes mental and emotional shock to one’s system. It is biting into something salty when you expect it to be sweet, it is meeting someone new and finding out they are much older or younger than you initially estimated, it is the feeling of strength and confidence in an utterly unfamiliar situation. Many of us are confronted with these situations throughout our week, and we walk by without giving them a second thought.

A magician uses such illusions or misconceptions to enhance his showmanship with his sleight of hand and other mind-boggling tricks. How is it a magician can physically saw through the torso of an assistant with no evidence of pain or wound and then merely wheel the detached body segments back together in front of an awe-struck audience? Illusion can be an ally in the case of the magician but when is it a disservice to human judgment and not just a simple mistake or exposed for entertainment purposes? The answer is when judgment is made too quickly based solely on what the eye can see. In the most simple cases, we judge a book by its cover without reading the back cover or trusted reviews. In more egregious instances we overlook a solid candidate for hire based on their poor interview skills or a lackluster resume. Whatever it is which keeps one from giving a thorough and fair evaluation of something, can lead to an unfair appraisal.

For homebuyers, it is imperative to give all aspects of the home-buying process adequate and concise evaluation before making decisions. From the cabinet colors and handle fixtures, to the flooring and crown molding options, each detail is one which will help put the homeowner’s stamp and style into the house. Homeowners cannot allow initial inspection or illusion deceive them because then they will be distracted from what they want.

When buyers are in the market to build a new home, the attention to detail starts early in the process and at the ground level, literally. When homebuilders decide to lay foundation they need to do so in an area suitable for the home they envision, which is not always an easy task. Choosing a plot of land requires a significant amount of imagination. Potential buyers need to envision the home of their dreams in any number of different topographical environments. A standard land parcel can first seem like the perfect choice, but with a little creativity and ingenuity, some of the most beautiful homes are built in the most unlikely of places.
