Vintage Retro Soda Fountains in Ohio

I live in a small town in Georgia and it’s where I grew up and where I knew I wanted to raise my own kids. I understand that small towns aren’t for everyone. After all, everyone knows everyone else and there’s little that goes on that everyone doesn’t know about especially when everyone had a party line growing up in this area. But there are a lot of pluses to that too. I live in a town that cares. This town pulls together when anyone needs anything, whether it be housing or help with farming just to name a couple of instances. It’s not Mayberry but it’s a close second.

My hometown: A lot of these buildings are still in use today.

When I think of small towns, I think of vintage retro soda fountains, root beer floats, big hair, poodle skirts and black leather jackets. It was fun growing up during the era that I did. This year, I’m thinking about creating my very own vintage retro soda fountain so I can make the kids cherry Cokes, floats, sundaes, and malt shakes. I want them to experience the fun that I had growing up in a retro world, in the same way, that I did. Our drug store soda fountain is a thing of the past but we do have a painting of it downtown and every time I ride by it, I get nostalgic. The pharmacy is almost exactly as it was back then minus the soda fountain bar.

When it comes to vintage retro soda fountains, Ohio has some of the best vintage soda fountains in existence.   For an all-time old fashioned shake, Ohio is where you want to be.  One of my favourite soda fountains with a genuine authentic drug store soda fountain feel is the Aglamesis Soda Fountain in Cincinnati, OH.

Just in case you are experiencing a bit of nostalgia like me, I found some fun Vintage Retro Soda Fountain finds for you on Amazon.

You’ve got to have something to put your floats and sundaes in so you might want to consider a set of Anchor Hocking Soda Glasses.

  6. I’m so jealous, I’ve always wanted to go to Africa. Please take a lot of photos to share.

  7. Oh I agree with you 100%. We’d get along great.

  8. I love vintage everything, but the soda fountain is such a fun place in time with the kids hanging out in their cool cars, the music and the clothes . . . all the things that are now all considered classics!

  9. I grew up in Costa Rica and now I live in South Africa, so, unfortunately, never seen an original soda fountain! But you can’t dismiss the influence of the USA in other countries, especially when it comes to pop culture, so I’ve seen “replicas”: there was hot dog place around here which really nailed the ’50’s vibe!

  10. I never thought I’d want to live in a larger town after being raised in a small town. And I was right, lol. I love small town living and I’m glad I stayed here to raise my kids in a small town.

  11. Steak and Shake is a favorite place of ours to dine that has the retro diner feel.

  12. I love them too. That’s why I decided I’m going to create my own little soda fountain for the kids.

  13. I love them to death. When I travel, soda fountains are the first thing I look for where ever I’m going. A lot of towns have them.

  14. Oh, I love these vintage soda fountains and I wish there was one near me. Maybe I should just create my own in my kitchen with those fun finds of yours!

  15. I love soda fountains, in my city we get lemon soda at every other nook & corner which is the best childhood memory I have. Me along with my friends used to drink soda every once/twice a week while coming back from school/ tuitions. You reminded me of my childhood times!!

  16. Love these style inspirations from vintage soda fountains! Although I missed the period we had a few retro diners near where I live that I’ve visited and these items very much remind me of those!

  17. I’m all about vintage, that old weathered look that has a unique and charming look to it! These soda items are things I would love to have in my home, great finds!
As for the small town feel, I never grew up in one, but I LOVE to escape the big city at times and venture to a small town in Northern MN.
