Is Your Dog Healthy? Signs To Look For

Is Your Dog Healthy Signs To Look For

If you have a dog, you will obviously be keen to make sure that you are taking proper care of them. And a major part of that is always going to be looking out for their health. As part of that, it’s going to be important to make sure that you are aware of the signs of health, and that you know when they are there and when they are not. This is something that you are really going to need to think about. In this post, we’ll take a look at this in some detail so you can ensure that you are going to get it right.

Energy Levels

It’s a good idea to keep one eye on the energy levels of your dog. These are going to be up and down over time, of course, but if you are able to see that they are generally up, that is going to be really useful, and a strong sign of good health. They should be able to move around with ease, and if they are young they might be bounding around too, and keen for walking every day. So look out for this, and you should find that you are going to really be keeping them a lot healthier.

Bright Eyes

There are a lot of reasons to keep an eye on your dog’s eyes. One is that they are generally likely to have bright eyes if they are healthy, and you will just be able to tell by looking at them they are generally in a good state. So this is something to watch for. If they start to look cloudy or otherwise, then it might be time to think about what they might need and what you could do differently. This is something to really watch out for closely if you can.

Mood

Your dog should generally have a good mood. This is a sign of strong health, and if they have low mood then that is obviously not a healthy sign. In fact, if your dog has chronically low mood or they are very suddenly low, you might need to have them checked out, and perhaps could even visit an emergency vet if you are particularly worried. All in all, it’s a good idea to watch the mood of your dog and see how it changes over time. This can give you a good sense of their baseline.

Appetite

A healthy dog will have a strong appetite. If your dog is eating well, and seems keen to eat regularly, then that is the kind of sign you are hoping for, and it’s something to definitely appreciate and bear in mind. On the other hand, a low or loss of appetite is the opposite, and something that you are going to need to think about and bear in mind as best as you can. That is going to help a lot.
