Need Help With Your Business, But Can't Afford Any Here's How To Get Some Anyway

You’ve had a great business idea, you’ve made it a reality, and you’re chugging along doing quite well. And then one day, bang! You run head first into a wall you didn’t see coming.

Maybe it’s a tax issue, or a customer with a complaint, or another company has your handle on social media. Whatever it is, you’re not sure what to do next.

Of course, the best thing to do here is talk to someone who does know! But that means hiring a professional to get something done for you – and your budget doesn’t quite stretch to that. So all in all, there doesn’t feel like there’s much you can do here.

But that’s not quite true! When you need help with your business, but you can’t quite afford the ‘right’ help, you can try out the ideas below.

Check with Your Friends

It’s OK to ask those closest to you for a hand. Really it is! You’re not ‘putting anything’ on them, or being a burden. You’re a business owner using their network to resolve a problem.

And if you’ve got a wealth of skilled friends with a lot of advice to give, you’ve clearly got the right kind of people around you! So, if you’re dealing with an issue you know they’ll have some insight on, talk to them about it.

Even if you don’t want them to come in and do something for you, you can get a few expert tips on getting the job done yourself.

Use a Bank Account Designed for One-Person Businesses

When you’re alone in business, you’ve got no one but yourself to rely on. And 99% of the time, that’s fine. But when you do need help, you tend to need it big time!

However, that doesn’t change the reality of your business’ budget. When you’re dealing with financial woes, tax oversights, and a cash flow problem you can’t even begin to unpick, you can’t just hire an accountant to get the job done for you.

So instead, try to anticipate these frustrations coming your way, and open up a sole trader business account that supports you on all of these bases.

There’s quite a few options out there, but make sure you check through the benefits of each one. You’re looking for a bank account that makes record keeping, tax filing, and invoice tracking a simple part of the process.

Check for Local Schemes

There’s usually a ‘chamber of commerce’ in the local area, whether you live in a small town or a big city. Head there first.

You should also have access to a local business support line through your local council, which should be free to use.

Either way, you can reach out for the help you need via these options and see if there’s anywhere they can sign post you. After that, it’s up to you!

When your business’ budget seems to be holding you back from any support, remember the tips above!
