We don’t always feel our best in life. Different things can happen to us that have an effect on our emotions and the way that we see the world. While it’s okay to accept that this has happened, you can also make a commitment to yourself to try to focus on feeling better. In this blog post, we’re going to take a look at exactly how you can do that.
1. Sit With Yourself
While this can seem intimidating and overwhelming at first, the very best place to start is to make sure that you just sit with yourself if you are experiencing any emotions that you find hard to acknowledge or deal with. Accepting them and trying to feel into them can be a great way to move through them. It can be really difficult to focus on feeling better in yourself when you can’t accept and sit with the emotions that are coming up for you.
2. Decide What You Actually Want
When you are more aware of how you feel, the next step is for you to decide what you actually want for your life. If you know that you are dealing with overwhelming emotions and you feel off track, it could be that you aren’t living in alignment with your true self. This means focusing on the things that will actually light you up in life. It might be that you want to move to a new location or you want to change jobs, and that’s okay. It’s really important that you just accept and acknowledge what you actually want.
3. Add More to Your Life
When we start to think about the idea of feeling better, it’s easy to think that we need to cut stuff out of our lives. From changing your diet to changing your habits and removing anything that seems to be getting in your way, there are lots of negative ways that we can look at this, however. You may find that adding more things to your life is what you really need here. Rather than focusing on what may or may not be the problem, focusing on what will make you feel better is a good idea.
4. Commit to Moving Through
Having that positive outlook can change everything for you. Again, even if you’re dealing with difficult things in your life, dwelling on them will not make things better. Instead, you need to commit to moving through them. Even if this means taking the step to do something such as attending a drug rehab center, it might be the best thing for you. When you can commit to moving through the problem and coming out the other side, it will always be worth it.
5. Create a Healthier Routine
One of the best ways for you to make sure that you can consistently feel better in yourself each and every day is to make sure that you have a nurturing and supportive routine to stick to. When you have a daily well-being routine in place, you will always be working on the key tools and actions that will help you to feel your best. This will enable you to feel more consistently in a good place, rather than up and down.
6. Fuel Your Mind and Spirit
However, it is also important to recognise that feeling better in yourself isn’t just a physical thing. While we can often think about the way we feel as an accumulation of the way we live our lives and the activities that we do, it often goes beyond this. It’s not just about the things you eat and whether or not you exercise. In order to feel good in your body and in your mind, you have to take care of your mental health too. This means making sure that you are fulfilled and content in yourself. When you choose to do things in your life that will fuel and support your mind and your spirit, you will find that you feel a lot happier overall.
7. Do What Makes You Happy
With that in mind, it’s also key that you’re able to do more of what makes you happy in life. If you are somebody who has found themselves on a path dictated by others, or you know that you feel the pressure of societal expectations on a regular basis, it could be time to move away from that. It’s easy to find yourself following a path that is expected of you by others, or even to find yourself in the trap of people pleasing, but this is never going to make you happy in life. In order to do that, you have to focus on the things that bring you joy and light you up. When you know that you are making decisions based on what makes you happy, especially if they aren’t harming anyone else, you will find that you begin to feel a lot better in yourself.
