Alright y’all it is hurricane season again and Mother Nature is out here throwing tantrums like she skipped her morning coffee. If you are anything like me you are probably sitting in your beautifully mismatched boho haven sipping sweet tea and wondering why hurricanes have to be such a mood killer. But we are not about to let a little wind and rain mess with our vibe.

Nope. We are going to prep for this storm like the fabulous shabby chic queens we are. Grab your favorite throw blanket and let’s get storm ready in style.

1. Storm Proofing Your Shabby Chic Sanctuary

First things first. Let’s make sure your adorable home is ready to handle Mother Nature’s drama. Check those shutters. If you do not have shutters plywood will do the trick. If it looks boring to you paint some pastel flowers on it after the storm passes. A little DIY never hurt anybody.

All your cute outdoor treasures like wind chimes gnomes and that antique birdcage on your porch need to come inside. Trust me you do not want to see your favorite thrifted treasures flying down the street.

2. Stocking Up with Shabby Chic Style

Forget running to the store in a panic and coming back with random cans of beans. You are better than that. A true boho queen keeps her pantry fabulous and functional.

Here is your must have list.
Mason jars filled with homemade jams and honey.
Canned soups that taste like grandma’s recipe.
Crackers nuts and dried fruits.
Plenty of bottled water and of course herbal teas.
Chocolate because obviously.

And do not you dare forget your fur babies. Stock up on pet food and treats because they are family too.

3. Let There Be Light. Boho Style.

Candles are cute until you realize you need fifty of them to see your own feet. Grab some battery powered lanterns and wrap them in fairy lights for that magical glow. If you are feeling extra vintage pull out that oil lamp you found at the flea market. This is her moment.

4. Emergency Kit But Make It Cute

Emergency kits do not have to be boring plastic boxes. Grab a shabby chic basket or a vintage suitcase and turn it into your storm kit. Fill it with.
Flashlights and batteries.
First aid essentials.
A hand crank radio because WiFi is not reliable.
A deck of cards or a boho puzzle.
A mini sewing kit because when the power is out you might as well mend that dress you have been putting off.

5. Power Outage Plans That Do Not Involve Boredom

If the power goes out do not panic. You are not about to sit there staring at the wall. Get creative.
Work on that embroidery project you started last year.
Write in your journal like the free spirit you are.
If you have a gas stove bake something that smells amazing.
Read a book by lantern light and pretend you are in a vintage love story.

For the kiddos teach them old school games like I Spy and let them roll their eyes. They will secretly enjoy it.

6. Safety is Always in Style

Stay tuned to emergency alerts and know your evacuation routes. Being prepared is not just practical it is chic. There is nothing more glamorous than being the calm cool and collected one while everyone else is losing their minds.

7. After the Storm It is Boho Therapy Time

Once the storm passes your backyard might look like a hot mess. But this is your time to shine. Clean up the garden repot your flowers and maybe rescue a few soggy gnomes. Think of it as a reset button for your boho oasis.

Final Thoughts. Hurricane Prep with a Boho Flair

Hurricane season does not have to be stressful. With a little prep and a lot of shabby chic charm you can weather the storm in style. Protect your space keep your loved ones safe and turn the whole experience into an excuse to light some candles and slow down.

So go fluff those pillows pour yourself a cup of tea and remember you have got this.
