An Insider's Guide to the Sunshine Coast

Are you thinking about visiting the Sunshine Coast in Australia?

The Sunshine Coast is one of the most beautiful places on earth. But because there’s so much to do and see here, we don’t recommend showing up without a plan.

What should be on your Sunshine Coast bucket list?

Check out this insider’s guide to the Sunshine Coast to discover how to plan your trip!

Explore Noosa

One of the best places to check out along the Sunshine Coast is Noosa. Noosa is a resort area in southern Queensland that’s known for its heavy surf, laidback cafes, and quaint boutique shops.

We recommend heading to Hastings Street, which is packed with fashion boutiques and trendy restaurants. Noosa offers everything from casual cafes to world-class eateries. Some of the best spots we recommend checking out include:

  • Betty’s Burgers
  • Wasabi
  • Woodfire Grill
  • Sails Restaurant
  • Noosa Waterfront

Of course, you can’t leave Noosa without checking out its national park. The park features turquoise waters, fairy pools, and stunning seaside cliffs. Besides bushwalking, the park is also the perfect spot for swimming, surfing, and fishing. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Noosa, check out ingeniaholidays.com.au.

Check Out the Festivals

The Sunshine Coast is also home to some of the best festivals in the world. We recommend planning your trip around one of these unforgettable festivals:

Big Pineapple Festival: This is a local favorite that takes place in May of every year. Put on your best pineapple gear and get ready to boogie.

Jungle Love Festival: This festival celebrates local, up-and-coming artists and musicians.

Caloundra Music Festival: This festival has been going on for more than 20 years, and it takes place right by the water. After working up a sweat from dancing, you can cool down with a nice dip in the ocean.

Australian Body Art Festival: Artists from around the country come to the Sunshine Coast to showcase their talent for body art painting, special effects painting, and face painting. The festival also has markets and street performers.

Noosa Festival of Surfing: Surfing is a way of life in Noosa, and the best way to experience the local surf culture is through their annual festival. Besides the big surfing competition, there’s also yoga, live music, art, and films.

Explore the Outdoors

The Sunshine Coast is the perfect place for exploring the outdoors. Here are just some of the outdoor activities you can take part in during your trip:

  • Head to the Glass House Mountains National Park for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and abseiling
  • Head to the Noosa North Shore and Rainbow Beach for the perfect beachfront camping location
  • Check out the surfing and sunbathing at Mooloolaba Beach

We also recommend heading to the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve for some subtropical rainforest exploration.
