If you’re looking for something fun to do this summer that allows you to stay in the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle while providing loads of laughs for the family, this post was created to help. I went in the middle of winter but I think it’s a perfect place to visit any time of the year. If you live in Georgia and are anywhere near the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain Georgia, you really should pack up the family and visit this fun place that puts you right smack dab in the midst of wild animals. Not only that, you can feed them from the comfort of your car (or theirs).
I decided to spend a few days and grab some much-needed rest and relaxation to see some fun sights, at the famous Mountain Creek Inn at Callaway Gardens and Resort, and on my first day there, I headed up to the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain Georgia. I had researched things to do that I’ve not already done on my many trips to Callaway Gardens and I found the Safari online. I do try to do things on my bucket list but I also like to be sporadic and find new places to visit. Because I’m a huge nature lover, I knew I would really enjoy a safari. And I did.
I went alone on my first trip to the Wild Animal Safari to see how safe it was for kids (I’m overly protective) and I’m happy to say that I’m definitely going to take the grandkids next time. I had so much fun. I didn’t feel threatened by the animals at any time, although they’re bigger than I thought they’d be, lol. I rented one of their safari cars with bars on the windows and I highly recommend doing that unless you want animal slobber all in your vehicle. Pros to this are, in case any animal decides to get too close it could cause a dent in your vehicle. Cons to this are the strong animal smell of their vehicles plus it was a little pricey to rent their vehicle (which I would still choose to do).
My photos aren’t that great, as I was driving, feeding animals, and trying to snap photos alone, all at the same time, but they’ll give you a little bit of an idea of how much fun this place really is.
Before you view my photos, I made a little video of my adventure that I think you’ll enjoy.
My extremely smelly car is below. Keep scrolling to see this wild animal-looking ride. No matter how smelly it was, I’m glad I did not take my own because it was worse when I ended my tour thru the safari. All of the animals would stick their heads in the car windows to get a treat. They sell animal food suitable for all of the animals in the office where you get your tickets.
There is also a little walk-thru zoo that I checked out while I was there. There’s not a whole lot of animals at this time but the kids will really enjoy seeing them all up close. They came right up to the fence and followed me from one exhibit to the next as far as their fence allowed. I even had a friendly peacock that followed me around the entire time. I think it had a crush on me, to be honest. He was sure showing off his feathers. Of course, if you know anything about male peacocks with a crush, you know that every time I’d turn towards it to take a photo, it would come towards me. I did not get its photos and tried not to look at it, lol.
