Happy Birthday Kathy

I don’t normally do this on Shabby Chic Boho but I want to wish my sister Kathy from https://reviewsbykathy.com a Happy Birthday.  Thanks to Kathy my life has changed for the better this year.

She and her husband decided to buy a house for me to move to in another town. Just like that. Say what? I’m still shocked by this act of love. They made a cash offer and negotiated a quick sale. It all happened so fast, that I was almost in disbelief.

Not only was it a surprise that they decided to buy a home but she even let me choose which one I thought I would be happy at. The first house I looked at was love at first sight. It’s cozy looking, and it has a small yard, unlike the home I purchased and lived in for 30 years. The reason I moved into an apartment was because it was just too big to take care of with my chronic pain.

Even though it was the smallest home I looked at, it’s exactly the size I need as an empty nester.  It’s in the perfect location just on the outskirts of town which is what I wanted, near most of my family (within 2 to 5 miles in every which way). I have enough room for a backyard secret garden filled with trees, shrubs, flowers, and even vegetables and herbs scattered in between.

My cats have plenty of trees to climb. I have several pecan trees, fruit-bearing palm tree, pine trees, and trees I haven’t discovered yet in the wooded areas around the property. There’s going to be home-baked pecan pies in my future.

Peanut, my little dog, will have some wildlife to befriend.

Chickens might happen one day.

My sister and my brother-in-law have been supervising contractors, taking that headache out of my hands so I’m free to pack and focus on this big move coming up, They’re completely financing the renovations, and allowing me to make decisions to make sure it feels it feels safe and cozy enough to be my forever home.  When all is said and done, Hope House will be my final resting place, where I live, sleep, and play, on this earth.

Moving into an apartment was the right choice for me at the time and it would have continued to be until the pandemic when ownership changed, our manager changed and people that shouldn’t have been approved to move in here were moved in and it’s been a nightmare for all of us law-abiding citizens who have tried to keep the community here free of drugs, prostitution, thieves, and any other crime you can think of. That’s not been successful due to the fact there are some in the sheriff’s office who are really good friends with said thug criminals and it’s time to move on to a new chapter in my life.

As I enter my new chapter of life in November (thank you, Kathy, thank you Robbie), you can follow me on my new website at https://housethathopebuilt.com, (Shabby Chic Boho will always continue to be my number 1 website). I plan to share daily life in my new little cottage-style home, with family, baking, cooking, canning, preserving, gardening, thrifting, DIY projects, pet projects, and much more.  It will be a personal blog quite unlike SCB and it’s just a way to follow me in a different setting and in a more personal way.

Back to my amazing sister Kathy who made all of this possible. Please visit her lifestyle website and wish her a Happy Birthday.  I’m sure you’ll find a lot of informative posts while you’re there to help you with anything you need help with.  They recently built a ranch in the middle of Texas and I’ve been enjoying watching it evolve with livestock, fruit trees, chickens, and gardening.
