As the old saying goes, ‘a comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.’ Your comfort zone can quickly become a rut if you’ve reached a point where you’re unhappy, feel like you’re stuck in groundhog day and constantly question if you’re making the most out of your life. Thes early months of the year hold so much promise, with a few simple changes you could look back on 2020 feeling really happy and fulfilled. So why wouldn’t you? Here are some of the ways you can sieze more opportunities and make the most of your precious time on earth.
Improve your appearance
We live in a society where unfortunately, a lot of emphasis is placed on looks. As a result, just about all of us find ourselves feeling insecure and self conscious at times, and it’s a shame because this can really hold us back in life. If you’re forever turning down invitations because you’re worried about your appearance and spend all of your time out in public obsessing about some detail of your looks, why not change it? It’s all well and good saying we should learn to love ourselves exactly as we are, but we all know that’s easier said than done. Accept that you’ll never look ‘perfect’ but do make the most of what you have. A healthy lifestyle or just some new clothes could improve the way your physique looks. A new haircut and colour could help to frame your face and makeup could enhance the features yoi do love. Even cosmetic surgery like a nose job or eyelid surgery could finally get rid of years worth of issues you have about your appearance, so why not? If it helps you to feel more confident and means you can get out into the world with your head held high and not feel insecure any more then it’s definitely a good thing.
Find a new hobby
Friendships in adulthood are difficult. Many of us grow apart from our childhood and teen friends, and making new ones can be incredibly tricky. But one way to go about this is by taking up a hobby you enjoy, this means not only are you having fun learning new skills but get to speak to people who you have a common interest with. Look for local groups and classes in things you enjoy, such as art, cooking or sports.
Travel somewhere new
Travel is always a good use of your time and money, if you get the opportunity to travel this year then these will likely always be the highlights you remember most. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune, scour Groupon for cheap city breaks or look for late all inclusive deals to sunny destinations. You could go on road trips or visit cities and beaches in the country you live in as well. If you’re feeling really brave you could try solo travel, this is a great way to build your confidence and really push you out of your comfort zone.
