Have you ever watched your favorite pair of shoes succumb to the power of creases right before your eyes?
If you’re a die-hard shoe lover creasing is your worst nightmare, and will leave you wondering how to get creases out of sneakers.
Here are some ways to get wrinkles out of leather shoes whether or not you have an iron handy.
Without an Iron
Your first instinct to get creases out of your shoes may be to use an iron, however, sometimes you may not have an iron available, and that’s okay.
There are ways to remove creases from shoes without using an iron, and as long as you act quickly you’ll be able to remove the creases without any issues.
Leather Oil
Leather oil is created for removing creases from leather shoes, so the second you see a crease in your sneakers apply some leather oil.
The leather oil will soften the part of the sneaker it’s applied to, therefore allowing the creases to loosen up and disappear.
The faster you act with this method the better the results will be.
Certain shoes you won’t want to use this on, however, due to the material the shoe is made from, such as the Yeezy boost 750.
Heat Gun
When using a heat gun you’ll first want to stuff the toe of your shoe with something such as socks. Cover the shoe with a wet towel and, keeping the heat gun about 6 inches away from the shoe, begin to apply heat.
Continue to apply the steam and rub the shoe with the towel and, after a few minutes, your shoe will look brand new.
Foam Inserts
Foam inserts help remove sneakers creases but also help keep sneakers from creasing.
These inserts are shaped like the front part of your shoe and are inserted inside the shoe. This helps to keep the shoe in shape while also slightly stretching the material, helping to both stretch out existing creases and prevent new ones from forming.
Steam
Using steam on creased sneakers is virtually the easiest method as it can get creases out of leather shoes and doesn’t require purchasing any extra products.
For this method, wet a towel and heat it up in the microwave until it’s steaming. Take the towel and rub it on the creased areas of the sneaker. The steam can help remove the creases, however, it may have to be done more than once.
With an Iron
If you do have an iron handy, it turns out they’re much more useful than just ironing clothes.
With this method, you’ll want to grab some socks, a towel, your iron, and your shoes.
First, take the laces off your sneakers and stuff the toes with some socks to help them keep their shape. Soak your towel in hot water, wringing it out until it’s just damp, and place it on top of your sneakers.
Put your iron on medium heat and iron over the towel where the creases are on your sneakers, lifting the iron up every few minutes as to not burn the sneakers.
After a few minutes of this allow your shoes to cool, and once they’re cooled the creases should be gone.
How to Get Creases Out of Sneakers
At the end of the day, creasing is inevitable, but the good news is you now know how to get creases out of sneakers, and it’s much easier than you may have thought.
With or without an iron, you will be able to save your shoes, and in turn, that will help you get the most wear out of them as possible.
