I have the worst time trying to figure out what to buy men. Any men, for any occasion. I’ve been divorced for decades and I’m just so out of touch with what men like. It’s even hard for me to buy gifts for my adult son and my grandsons. When it comes to the opposite sex, I don’t have a clue what’s cool or what’s not. What’s needed or what’s not. I’m clueless about men.
This year, with family Birthdays coming up, I decided to do a little research before I’m put in the same situation again, of wondering what I should buy and who might (definitely won’t) like the gifts. I always look for the best hand-picked care packages for men when I’m shopping for unique gifts. Thanks to Google search, I managed to come up with some unique gift ideas for the men in your life to share with those of you who have the same problem (or maybe I’m the only one that struggles with this?).
I’m bad about buying random things when I’m at a loss of what to buy. I usually ask the recipient but the men I know usually have everything they want and their answer is always the same. Don’t buy me a gift. I have a feeling it’s because I buy useless stuff that probably either ends up getting donated, given away, or thrown out. But still, I buy.
I used to buy any or all of the following three gifts for Birthdays (okay, busted, if I’m honest, for Father’s Day and Christmas too). Ties, Wallets, Grooming Kits.
After spending quite a few weeks (months) on manly Birthday gift ideas, I came up with the following list.
1. Custom Posters from Mapiful.
Why Mapiful?
- Affordability
- Quality
- Uniqueness
- Personalization
- Greener Printing
I decided to purchase a Custom Poster from Mapiful because I just loved the whole idea of creating a personalized gift that would actually mean something. It was quick and easy to design and shipping and handling were as I expected them to be. They packaged my poster in a stiff cardboard tube with ends on it and it arrived in perfect condition.
Why did I select a state custom poster?
My dad was in the service when I was born. My birthplace is at the very top of my bucket list. Being in the Navy at the time, and stationed in Alaska meant that I was born on Kodiak Island. I wanted to create a custom poster that was a reminder of where it all began.
I’m currently trying to flatten the map out because they do come rolled, but here’s a sneak peek of it. It includes the state, county, and latitude. The details!
2. Leather Personalized Cord Organizer.
This next gift idea I found on Etsy. I’m an Etsy addict. I love homemade and personalized items and there’s no better place to find them than at Etsy. The seller lives here in Georgia and I love to support local shops. I don’t know anyone, male or female who doesn’t have cords laying around. While you’re checking this out, be sure to check out their other products as well. I’ve got my eye on the safety razor cover which would also make a great unique gift.
3. Personalized Wood Beer Caddy with Bottle Opener and Magnetic Bottle Cap Catcher.
This beer caddy is one of the cutest handmade gifts I’ve found on Amazon. As I’ve mentioned in many previous posts, I love personalized gifts. I have one similar to this myself except it’s not made nearly as well and I use it to store plastic cutlery in it for hosting lunches for the neighborhood kids. This is definitely something I will buy as a gift or two myself this year.
For disclosure’s sake, I’m an Amazon affiliate and if you make a purchase of this product using my Amazon affy link, I will receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.
4. Personalized Special Reserved 5 Piece Tool Set.
If the man in your life is more of a wine drinker than a beer drinker, I’ve got you covered with this personalized wine toolset from none other than Walmart (2-day delivery). This set includes a wine opener, foil cutter, wine stopper, drop-stop collar, and a wine spout. It comes in a wine bottle-shaped case making it the ultimate wine lover must-have kit. It’s so unique, I’ve never seen anything quite like it.
5. Shiitake Mushroom Log Kit.
Next to the last but certainly not the least is for the chef in your life which is a mushroom log kit, from Uncommon Goods. I know several men that love growing their own herbs and this would be a great way to expand their little kitchen gardens. Having fresh mushrooms to throw in an omelet, or cook in a batch of spaghetti that they grew themselves would have to be a source of pride.
6. Custom Yacht Shirts
There you have it. My 2021 list of Birthday gift ideas for me. I hope it will help you avoid the ties and wallets so, like myself, you can become a little more creative in your gift-giving this year.
