Important Questions to Ask Your Gynecologist

Important Questions to Ask Your Gynecologist

Regular visits to a gynecologist do not only protect your health but also give you peace of mind. When preparing for your visit, one of the most important things to do is to come up with a list of questions. Asking the right questions ensures that you get the best from Trinity gynecology. Common questions that you may have to include the following:

1.      Is It Normal to Have Recurring Yeast Infections?

If you have had yeast infections that do not seem to go away, this is an important question. If you get a yeast infection every time you have your periods or sex, something is wrong. Using antibiotics or antifungal medication may no longer be enough.

Your gynecologist will help you devise the most appropriate treatment plan for your needs.

2.      Do I Smell Normal?

If you have a strong or unusual vaginal odor, you should speak with your gynecologist about it. Even though every woman has a unique vaginal smell, alcohol, spices, and pungent foods are known to cause strong smells. If the odor is fishy or too strong, it may be a sign of infection.

3.      Why Is It Painful When I Have Sex?

If you experience some pain or discomfort during intercourse, you should ask your gynecologist about it. Even though it may be an embarrassing issue for most women, your gynecologist will help you identify and resolve the cause of the problem. Common causes of painful sex are hormonal changes, some medications’ side effects, and lack of lubrication.

4.      What Type of Lube Should I Use

Despite the common misconception, it is not okay to use the oils in your kitchen as lube during sex. They can throw off your PH and lead to infections. Some of them are not latex-friendly. Your gynecologist will go through the options with you and help you make the right choice.

5.      How Should I Clean My Vagina?

Vaginal cleaning is one of the most controversial topics in medicine. There are plenty of feminine hygiene products in the market, and it is easy to be confused. The vagina is self-cleaning, and it is wise to avoid putting in any foreign chemicals. If you have any questions or concerns about your cleaning habits, your gynecologist may address them.

6.      Why Do I Have Low Libido?

There are plenty of reasons why you may have low libido. They include hormonal imbalance and psychological issues. Your low libido does not need to last forever. Your gynecologist may help you understand the problem and reignite your dying flame.

7.      Can I Have Sex on My Period?

Many women are curious about period sex and the type of issues it may present. There is no medical reason to avoid it. If you and your partner are okay with it, there is no reason to be afraid.

During our visit to the gynecologist, asking the right questions could make all the difference. Women who ask questions are likely to reap more benefits than those who shy off.
