If you’re planning to take advantage of the sunny weather this year and you plan to spend your summer camping or glamping, you should try these easy meal ideas for camping.
1. Hot Sausage Pasta Meal Recipe
This recipe is super simple to make.
Ingredients
- 1 lb of hot Italian sausage
- 1 box of Penne pasta
- 1 jar of your favorite spaghetti sauce.
If you like parmesan cheese on your pasta, don’t forget to pack that up as well.
Directions
Cook your sausage until completely done. While that is cooking, cook your pasta in water with a dash of salt.
Drain both the sausage and the pasta, then combine in a saucepan. Add in the spaghetti sauce and let simmer until the spaghetti sauce has had time to heat.
If you cook both your sausage and pasta at the same time, it’s a really quick meal to make for camping.
Remove from heat and serve. Serve with salad and or garlic bread or by itself.
2. Hobo Hamburgs
These are also known to campers as foil meals. The sky is the limit in what you can add to them.
Ingredients
- Ground beef
- Vegetables
If you like salt and pepper, add these as desired.
Use heavy-duty aluminum foil to create your hobo hamburgers.
Start with your ground beef and layer up with as many vegetables as you have on hand or like. This is a good suggestion for your last day of camping, to get rid of all of the extra vegetables you have leftover.
On the plus side, these do not take long to cook.
3. Shish Kabobs
Shish Kabobs remains a favorite of mine while camping. I do try to mix them up each time so I’m not eating the same thing over and over.
You will need shish kabob skewers to create this recipe. They remain relatively inexpensive on Amazon. For instance, these 12 pack metal hook skewers are only $5.99 at the time of posting this post. This 100 pack of bamboo skewers is only $3.83.
Also, note that you can buy premade vegetable shish kabobs at Walmart and other places. When I don’t have a lot of room for a dozen different ingredients, that’s the choice I make. They’re inexpensive and can be stored in my cooler with ease.
Ingredients
- Meats of choice
- Vegetables of choice
- Season All Seasoning
There really is nothing to shish kabobs. Simply cut your meats into desired sizes and cut your veggies into chunky sizes. Sprinkle on some Season All Seasoning and they’re ready to grill.
We spent a lot of my childhood camping and traveling and back then, our meal of choice was usually hamburgers or hotdogs. Times have changed and so has the different camping cookware that makes making any recipe possible.
