How to Plan For The WOW Summit 17, Chicago on a Budget @MomsMeet #WOWSummit

So you’re either grappling with a maybe or you’ve already made the decision to attend the WOW SUMMIT 17, Chicago (OCTOBER 13-14 | ITASCA, IL), and now you’re wondering how to prepare for it without breaking the bank. You’re at the right place. Budget planning is my thing.

“You are not alone in your quest to raise a healthy family.”

To start with, if you haven’t purchased your ticket, do it before the end of May because they’ll go up in price from $89 to $119. You’ll already be on the way to saving money. If you’re a Moms Meet blogger, you probably have enough points to redeem for your ticket (6000 points). If you don’t have enough points, you can earn some easily and quickly by reviewing your favorite products on your blog or doing Moms Meet quests.

Next, you’ll want to reach out to other bloggers who you are comfortable with, who have made the commitment to raise happy and healthy families, like you, to see if any of them want to share a room. Per Moms Meet website, the Eaglewood Resort & Spa, located just outside Chicago is offering summit attendees a special price of $159 a night (price includes the resort fee). Kathy from Reviews by Kathy, our VA and yours truly are sharing a room to bring the price down so we can go a day early and stay over after to check out the sights. Call 877-491-0468 and reference Moms Meet WOW Summit to receive your group rate.

Next up is transportation. If you’re going to be flying in from out of state the closest airports are the O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Midway International Airport. You can compare the cheapest flights to Chicago by using Fare-Finder. You can save up to 80% on roundtrip tickets by comparing their offers. Visit Moms Meet for more information about these airports, and methods of travel available to the resort. We decided to rent a car because we plan to do some sightseeing after the summit and because we’re going early. We want to have a day to rest from our flight and find our bearings. Again, you can save money by chipping in with other bloggers to rent a car. If I’m not mistaken, our car is going to cost $100 for our entire trip and as I stated we’re going early and staying over. It would be even cheaper if you’re just flying in for the 2-day summit.

Next you’ll want to think about having a notepad, micro-cassette recorder or PDA with you. If you’re taking your VA or a guest with you, make a little goodie bag for them to let them know how much you appreciate them. Amazon carries inexpensive PDA’s or even micro cassette recorders. For me, I learn by writing so my choice is always a handy dandy notepad and pen. I’m old school like that.

    1. This is my first year as a blogger or being in Momsmeet. Living in Milwaukee and being low income I did purchase a pass through rewards points and we are trying to make it a family thing. Having a 4 year old and staying 3 nights, it would be difficult to stay at the resort they booked, as it is 15 dollars additional per night for a fridge and offer no microwave and we need to pinch pennies, so we are looking at a couple other hotels which offer the free shuttles within a 5 mile radius as well as free breakfast since there is a fee here as well. Need to save wherever I can . This will be our second vacation ever in 20 years so we are hoping we can work it out I did also use rewards and have an extra Saturday only moms pass because I thought we had to be approved as blog ambassador to attend blogger weekend since my application is still pending but any blogger can go. If anyone would like, and there is a way to contact me, I can have my Saturday only moms ticket transferred to you for free.

    2. Thanks for these tips. We have 6 months to plan and prepare, and of course, save for it. I would really love to attend and I am going to do what I can to get to IL in October! This is going to be one big awesome event for us moms! Hope to see you there!

    3. This is something I have always wanted to try out. I know a few bloggers who are attending this year. It is not in the budget for me this year – plus the timing is bad. Hopefully I will be able to go next year!

    17. I won’t be attending this wonderful event. Not that I don’t want to attend just that we made plans last year to travel to europe. Since this has been planned for a year and family is going this must come first. I expect to hear all about it with tons of photos.

    18. This is my first time hearing about the WOW summit. It seems like such a wonderful event! Also a great list of tips for cutting back on expenses. I tell you what .. things like this can add up quickly. Had to smile at your pen and paper comment. I’m the same way!
