Warning Signs that you Are Unhealthy (And What to Do About Them)

If you are living a somewhat unhealthy lifestyle then this can have an impact on your health. You may feel as though you are constantly eating junk food and ignoring your body’s primal urge to exercise. If this is the case then it’s time to make a change, because the decisions you are making could be affecting you far more than you realise.

Bad Skin

The quality of your skin is the best way for you to try and get a reading on your health level. Some people do struggle with skin issues such as acne, but are otherwise in great health. That being said, skin quality can indicate that you have bigger problems going on. A poor diet can lead to stretch marks and oily skin in general, so you need to try and keep this in mind.

Sleep Issues

Can’t sleep at night? This could mean that some aspects of your life need adjusting. It doesn’t matter whether you are eating the wrong foods or whether you are simply ingesting too much caffeine later on in the day because not being able to sleep at night certainly indicates that you have some issues that need to be dealt with. If you want to help yourself here, then you need to try and avoid caffeine after 2pm and also wind down before bed by reading a book or even by having a bath. If you are having sleep issues because of stress then you need to address the source of the problem. For example if you are caring for a loved one, then look into .

Bathroom Issues

Take a note of your urine the next time you go to the bathroom. When you do, you should note that your urine should be pale yellow in colour and that it shouldn’t be darker, or lighter. If it is lighter then this can indicate that you are drinking too much, and if it’s darker then it may mean that you aren’t drinking anywhere near enough. Either way, something needs to change if you are concerned about this.

Reliance on Lip Balm

If your lips always feel somewhat dry, then this could indicate that you have a deficiency. If your lips are chapped and you can’t live without lip balm, then this is your body’s way of trying to tell you that something is wrong. Your lip condition is usually an indicator of your vitamin levels too, so if you have chapped lips then you may be strapped for vitamins. One way for you to get around this would be for you to try and diversify your diet so that you can give your body the nutrients it needs.

Bad Fingernails

Your fingernails can also be a sign that you are not as healthy as you could be. If you are unhealthy then you need to look out for ridges, bumps, discolouration and more. All of these should be red flags.

Temperature Fluctuations

Hands that are as cold as ice are not normal at all. Sure, there could be some environmental factors at play here, but if you constantly feel as though you have cold extremities then you may be having cardiovascular problems. Blood might not be getting to where it needs to go either, so if you believe that you are having these issues then you may want to get them looked at.

Cloudy Mind

If you are healthy then your mind will be sharp. If you feel as though it’s becoming apparent that your cognitive health is not as good as it could be then this is a sign that you are not healthy. Higher levels of body fat can impact your ability to reason. If you feel as though you have been experiencing brain fog recently then this could indicate that it is time for you to shed some weight.

You’re Itching

If you have a constant need to scratch, then there is a chance that you are experiencing liver problems. Your body might be trying to tell you that you are allergic to something as well. If you don’t think that either of these options are the source of the problem, then you may have a skin issue. It may be possible for you to sort this out by simply changing the moisturiser you use or trying to use a hypoallergenic laundry detergent.

You’re Shrinking

Have you ever noticed that you are actually getting shorter? A lot of people don’t give much thought to their height, but as you age you will shrink. You should take this seriously if you feel as though your change in height is noticeable. It may be that you are experiencing a health issue that needs treating. Sometimes you might not be not getting enough vital nutrients, so it’s a good idea for you to look at your diet so that you can make sure that this isn’t the case.

Going Grey

If you are getting grey hair at a young age, then this could indicate that you have a thyroid disorder. You shouldn’t panic if you find a strand of grey but if you are noticing a pattern then it’s worth chatting with your doctor. It may be that you have a deficiency or that you need to take some vitamins.

Your Legs are Swelling

Have you noticed some changes to your legs recently? If so then this could indicate that you have a heart condition, kidney problem or even thyroid issue. Oedema might be because you are not getting enough physical activity done as well, so it helps to address this as soon as you can.

You’re Developing Wrinkles

Wrinkled skin really is part of the standard ageing process, but if you feel as though you are getting wrinkles in areas that are not exposed to the sun then this could be a sign that you are in poor health. Check for wrinkles in your upper arms, as this can be a sign that you have high blood pressure, and this is something that needs to be corrected as soon as possible. If you do, then you can start to get things on the right track again. Most of the time, a few simple changes will do the trick.
