Winter Beauty Tips

While it is the season to be “Jolly Merry” I’m not talking about Christmas. Right now, to be completely honest with you, my body is anything but merry (but it will be and so can yours). I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but it’s the time I start getting ready for summer. I try to watch what I eat more so than any other time. This is really difficult for me because I love good food. I drink more water even though I don’t care for it. I have a couple of Lifefactory glass bottles and I keep one on my desk and one in the kitchen with ice water in both of them. To sum it up, I take extra good care of me during winter, from the inside out; my body, my face and my skin. Having a beauty care routine in place helps me get me through the dreary, dry, cold winter months.

Beauty Care Tips

From head to toe, I buy products that hydrate.

For my hair, I use Biolage by Matrix Ultra Hydrating Shampoo. Usually during summer, our hair salon at Walmart puts their Biolage on sale and sometimes they run a 2 for one special so I stock up. I don’t have to use conditioner with this shampoo but I do use a hair mask as needed.

I use Olay Ultra Moisture Wash to bathe my skin with. My skin feels so soft and smooth after my shower. I also like Dove products when I want to alternate. For my face I use Ivory Soap after using a facial cleanser. I’ve always used Ivory Soap because I’ve always had great results with it.

After my shower I apply Gold Bond Ultimate Softening Foot Cream to my feet D.A.I.L.Y. Sometimes twice a day. I have been known to apply Vaseline petroleum jelly to my feet at bedtime and cover them with socks. It really helps dry cracked problem heels.

For my face and neck I’ve recently started using Body Merry Retinol Surge Moisturizer. I’ve not been using this long but it’s been long enough for me to get hyped up about it. My skin is similar to fruit that does not get the moisture it needs to remain hydrated. I have to use a year round retinol moisturizer. We all know that there isn’t a magic solution to instantly hydrate your skin nor to instantly visibly reduce the signs of aging but there are products that work when used as directed over a period of time. Body Merry Retinol Surge Moisturizer is turning out to be one of them. It’s giving me a more flawless look. This product addresses wrinkles, fine lines and age spots. Don’t be afraid to add it to your winter beauty care list (no harsh chemicals).

Retinol Moisturizer

For my hands I use Burt’s Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Cream as my main go to cream. I use it as often as needed and I even keep some on my desk. I also use any and everything that I have handy in between. My hands require extra moisturizing during the long and dry winter months.

Yes! Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate! It is one of my resolutions this year too, especially with drinking water. I like all of your tips! I absolutely cannot wait to be able to use Retinol again on my skin. I am still breastfeeding so I have to continue to wait on that.

this winter has been so bad for me and my dry skin. I always try to buy things that are moisturizing. I absolute hate my dry/asks skin and can’t wait for summer to get here!

I don’t really go out much or really leave the house. But I got this great lotion from bath and body works. It’s really great for stress, it really smells amazing. So I put that when I wake up and a few times randomly throughout the day. Otherwise, it’s not that bad for me this year.

Oh boy, I so need this. The weather outside is cold, cold, cold and with that comes dryness. It is hard to keep your body moisturized let alone your face (which is constantly exposed to the elements). Thanks for this, I am heading to the ‘managing your aging skin post next’ LOL

I have been moisturizing like crazy and nothing seems to be working! Maybe I will try that Burt’s Bees hand cream. I’ve been trying to drink a lot of water too, but my son keeps drinking all the water from my cup and I’m too lazy to refill it (OMG I just realized how extremely lazy that is – what a bad excuse)! Thanks for the tips!

i actually have that body merry retinol surge moisturizer myself! I love the way that it works. My winter beauty tips would include moisturizing my body every or every other day and using vaseline on my lips almost all times of day. Winter can be such a toll on the skin but with the proper tips you can be just as radiant as the summer time!

I have to say, this Winter is being terribly harsh on my skin. I have dry skin to begin with, but add in the extreme cold we are having and my skin is cracking. Oh, and the fact that I use hand sanitizer by the gallons doesn’t help either. I need to check into some hand cream, and I need to be more faithful in applying moisturizer.

I really need to think smarter about taking care of myself in the Winter – or any of the other seasons for that matter. I do love Burt’s Bees though, I always have them on hand. I love water and drink like a camel storing for a trek so I dread to think whammy skin would be like if I didn’t!

These products look amazing! I definitely need to work more on hydrating my skin and hair-especially during the winter months! Right now, I tend to moisturize my face and use a night cream. Thank you for this great post and reminder.

You definitely have a great routine down. Like you, I am trying to drink as much water as possible and I have actually noticed a difference in my skin. I can’t believe that you don’t have to use conditioner with that shampoo- as soon as I get back stateside, I will have to pick some up because that sounds amazing! If I could just use shampoo I would be absolutely astounded.

I’m quickly becoming a fan of them too. I’m using another one of their product for the scars from my surgeries. It’s working which is why I wanted to try this one too.
