After receiving a sample pack of Steven Raichlen’s Project Smoke Barbecue Sauces and Rubs, I set about trying them for myself. I’ve heard they’re delicious and I couldn’t wait to try them. I decided to start with a pork loin I was baking for a little get together, a soggy get together as it was raining and I couldn’t drag my grill out. I was sort of expecting no one to show because of how hard it was raining, but no one wanted to miss out on trying Steven Raichlen’s Project Smoke Barbecue Sauces and Rubs.
As unusual as it may seem, I decided to use the Malabar Steak Rub on my pork loin. There was just something about all of the ingredients that caught my eye. I’m a spice cooker. I use spices in just about everything I create. So I’m familiar with a wide range of spices, and this rub was screaming for me to try it.
After washing my loins, I added a generous amount of the rub to them. And then just for good measure, I added more. There’s no such a thing as too much of a good rub.
After cooking my loins n the oven, we ate. And ate. And ate some more. There was not one single piece of pork loin left by the time I cleaned up. The rub was everything I knew it would be and more. I can’t wait to try the barbeque sauces next.

I’ll have to send this to my brother-in-law…he’s obsessed with grilling and cooking meats in general!
The Cherry Beer sauce would be my first choice, but they all look great. I don’t drink coffee, so the Santa Fe Coffee rub might not be down my alley, but I bet I would be pleasantly surprised.
They all look so good. But the Lemon Brown Sugar Sauce really caught my eye. Of course I dont think i will share if its as good as it looks i am hiding and eating it lol
