Terri Ramsey Beavers Easter is hopping our way and for those who celebrate this important Christian day, we usually fill Easter baskets with colored eggs, chocolate bunnies, and other sweet treats. We start our day by dressing in our new Easter outfits and head to church then we head home to change so we can start hiding eggs for an Easter egg hunt for the kids. We then eat more ham than we should, for Easter lunch. Traditions are very important in my family.
As my grandkids get older they prefer toys that will last to chocolate that is eaten and forgotten, in their Easter baskets. And I have to admit, so do I. I still go through the tradition of coloring and decorating eggs but these days there are fewer chocolate threats and more healthy treats, toys, and even needed essentials such as socks and so forth.
One of the reasons I personally prefer stuffing the kid’s Easter baskets with toys is rainy days. Rainy days and kids stuck indoors can be challenging. Within the first hour of my trying to be creative with their time, they’re bored. Another reason is mealtime. I enjoy cooking and baking but it’s not always easy when I have kids pulling my attention in all directions.
